Teacher Bios

Cassie Evanetich
Dance Instructor

M17-Cassie Bio Picture.jpgI have been dancing since I was five years old and it is absolutely the love of my life! I have studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. I was trained for 5 years in Denver, Colorado and have since trained here in Albuquerque at studios around the city. I have competed in regional and national competitions around the western part of the country and have received numerous awards for my performances in the competitions. I was also a member of my school's drill/dance team, Las Toreras, and joined them at the state competition. I am just beginning to teach dance and my hopes are to allow others to love dance just as much as I do!

Asheville_2010_014.jpgChristine(Christie)was born in Albuquerque where her family owned and operated a local business for 65 years. She is the creator, owner and director of Studio Pizazz. Her vision for Studio Pizazz is to create an atmosphere where dancers can develop a passion for dance and performing while improving physical, mental and spiritual well-being through movement. Christie has studied dance for over 40 years with an emphasis on ballet, tap and jazz. She has been teaching for more than 10 years and has attended numerous professional dance workshops and classes.

In addition to her extensive dance training, Christie has studied singing and acting at the high school and college levels. She is also currently a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New Mexico and has worked with children and teens for over 10 years. In 2006, she developed an interest in movement as a form of therapy and has pursued training in Nia, TranceDance and other forms of movement healing. Christie believes that all dance students should learn to have a passion for movement and performance while developing technical skills. "My vision is to restore a passion to dance and performance by combining the tools of therapy, movement and my own love for dance in the classroom setting. My goal is to create an atmosphere where each student can develop a strong mind, body, and spirit connection to be applied to all aspects of their lives."

Katy Fuchs
Nia Instructor

Katy has been teaching Nia in the Albuquerque area since 2001. She has attended classes with Holly Curtis of Santa Fe and Carlos and Debbie Rosas, cofounders of the Nia technique. She currently holds a Nia blue belt. “Halfway through my first Nia class in August, 2000, I realized that Nia was the ideal path for me. A breast cancer ‘survivor’, I was already benefiting from practicing yoga, but Nia classes were such fun, and I quickly began to enjoy physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. I’ll never forget the moment when the joy of movement swept away my pre-occupation with my post-surgery appearance and I felt truly beautiful. Right then I decided to become a teacher in order to share that experience with others. I have been joyfully teaching since 2001. Though I now rarely think about my past experience with cancer, I took time in May 2007 to contemplate the fifteen wonderful years that have passed since that frightening day when I was diagnosed. I'm ffilled with awe and gratitude for Nia and for the magnificent people I have met in my classes. With them, I have gone beyond ‘survive’ to thrive. I’m excited about continued growth through Nia and would be honored for you to join me.”
